Paradise Jam Preview

Game 3 (4/5): November 18, 7:30 PM (4 and 5 TBD)

Opponent: Washington State (others TBD)

Location: St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands

Records: Washington State 2-0, Creighton 2-0

Coming off of a win over top 10 Wisconsin which head coach Greg McDermott called possibly the biggest in his time at Creighton, the Jays hopped on a flight to St. Thomas to compete in the 2016 Paradise Jam. The 2016 field includes Loyola-Chicago, St. Joseph's, Oral Roberts, Ole Miss, Montana, NC State, Washington State, and your Creighton Bluejays.

CU will take on Washington State in their opening game on Friday night at 7:30 PM Central Time (the Paradise Jam website shows local start times which are two hours ahead of CDT). The game can only be seen through the online streaming service FloSports. The game can be heard on the radio at 1620 the Zone.

What you need to know: While Washington State comes into the game with a 2-0 record like Creighton, they have had narrow margins of victory in beating Montana State 69-65 and Central Washington 81-76.

The Cougars are led by 6'10" senior forward Josh Hawkinson who is averaging 17 ppg and 12.5 rpg so far this season. WSU only goes about seven players deep in their rotation, so fatigue could become as Creighton would appear to have the advantage in depth.

What you don't need to know: One of Washington State's most famous former students is Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. Allen is estimated to be the 40th richest person in the world with a net worth of about $18.6 billion. Allen is the owner of the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers.

Allen only attended Washington State for two years before dropping out to start working as a computer programmer before co-founding Microsoft.

Following Creighton's opening game against Washington State, they will play either Montana or NC State in game two. Check out the Paradise Jam bracket here to see Creighton's potential game three match ups as well as game times.
