CU Soccer Update

The Creighton men's soccer team played two more games last week. The Jays improved their record to 5-1-2 and are ranked as the No. 12 team in the country.

CU started their slate last week with a home match-up against No. 8 Denver. The match ended in a 0 to 0 draw. Creighton's star of the game was goalkeeper Alex Kapp who turned away nine shots on goal.

Next up, the Jays knocked off DePaul in a conference game. Creighton came out on top 4 to 1 to move their league record to 2-0. There is no question, the standout performance of the match was turned in by Riggs Lennon. Lennon scored all four of the CU goals, becoming just the sixth Creighton player to accomplish that in one game.

The four goals turned in by Lennon brought his season total to eight. The remarkable thing about Lennon's season total is that it eclipses his total from the three previous season combined. Before transferring to Creighton, Lennon scored seven career goals in his three years at Virginia.

On the other side, the Creighton women's soccer team extended its winning streak to four games with a 3 to 2 win over Marquette. The Lady Jays have now won four in a row to bring their season record to 6-1-2.

Lauren Sullivan led the way with a pair of goals including a golden goal in the 108th minute to win the game for CU. After her two goals against Marquette, Sullivan now has seven goals on the season.

Next up the women's team travels to Chicago to take on DePaul on Thursday night.

The next game for the men's team is Tuesday night at home at 7 pm. The Jays will face Loyola-Chicago who has yet to lose a game. Make sure you make it out to Morrison Stadium to support the teams.
