Creighton started the week at Marquette on Thursday, October 5th and dropped the match in straight sets. This was the first Big East volleyball match the Bluejays had lost since 2015, snapping a 28-match conference win streak. The win streak was the third longest in Big East conference history. Before falling to Marquette, Creighton most recent Big East loss was against Villanova in 2015. Marquette has consistently been one of the more challenging teams for Creighton in recent years, in fact since the formation of the new Big East in 2013, only Creighton and Marquette have won the conference tournament.
The Jays were forced to bounce back quickly as they faced DePaul on the road the very next day. Creighton was up to the challenge and was able to knock off DePaul in straight sets. The Bluejays were dominant from the start and cruised to the finish line in order to get back to their winning ways.
Next up for Creighton is a home match against Butler on Friday, October 13th followed by another home match against Xavier on Sunday, October 15th.
