Clarke nears end of visit list

If it wasn't clear for a while who Creighton's No. 1 target was in the 2015 recruiting class, it sure is now. The Jays have made 6-foot-6, 185-pound Chris Clarke, No. 58 in the latest Rivals 150, a huge priority. That is why the entire Creighton coaching staff in to see him this week. They also met with Chris's father, Curt, who I had a chance to catch up with.
"We sat down and just chit-chatted," Curt Clarke said. "They told us more about the program, answered our questions. They really reiterated their interest in Chris and just talked about how he would be a perfect fit for their program."

Clarke is a rare athlete and unlike any player Creighton has had in recent memory. Clarke and his family recently visited the hilltop.
"It was a great visit," said Curt Clarke. "It was our first time in Omaha and it was good to see the environment there. It's a smaller school, but we really got a feel for it. We got to meet the coaches, trainers, strength and conditioning staff and see the whole set up."
Clarke has visited Creighton, UConn, Virginia Tech, and he will take a trip to Tennessee this weekend. Some prospects don't make it to all the schools they originally plan to visit because they get blown away by certain schools. Clarke will weigh all his options, though.
"Our family has a business mindset," Curt Clarke continued. "Sure, we have fun on these visits, but we have to ask questions on the visits and then sit down and figure out what is the best fit for Chris."
Not only does the Creighton staff like Clarke's athleticism, they love how hard he plays on both ends of the court. Clarke has a non-stop motor and is a real force on the boards, and he's an underrated offensive player who could thrive in Creighton's open and fast-paced system. The Clarke family likes a lot about Creighton, too.
"Creighton has a great academic situation and amazing support," Curt Clarke said. "They have a great community that provides a good college experience for an athlete. Their staff is great and they have a lot of brand new facilities, and that's a result of what they've accomplished in the past and from their local support and alums."
Chris Clarke plans on making a decision before the early signing period in November. In the meantime, take a look at his YouTube highlights below and see if you can remember a player like this wearing the white and blue.
