Big man set to visit Creighton

With the upcoming departure of center Geoffrey Groselle, the Creighton staff is searching for another big man to help fill the void. Currently it has its eyes set on 6-foot-10 Mitchell Smith from Van Buren, Ark. But Smith, a three-star prospect in the 2016 class, has plenty of suitors.
"Right now Arkansas, Missouri, Tulsa and obviously Creighton are coming after me the hardest," Smith Said. "I've taken unofficial visits to Arkansas and Oklahoma State but plan on taking an official visit to Creighton the weekend of Saturday, Aug. 29."

Smith seems to know a lot about Creighton and has a very strong interest in the school.
"I talk to coach Mac all the time, and I've been talking to coach Lutz for a while," Smith said. "I watched a lot of their games last season on television. I'm really excited to see their arena and I've heard Omaha is very nice. I like that they work hard and the staff is really good at developing players."
Smith isn't your typical back-to-the-basket bruiser down low -- he uses his 6-foot-10 frame and his quickness to his advantage.
"I have a high motor and can out-run most bigs," he said. "I'm not your average big -- I'm more versatile and I can finish. This summer I improved my game a lot and I learned a lot of things I am going to get to use in this upcoming high school season. I worked on my ball handling and shooting. I played on a really good AAU team with some of the top players in the country, and instead of focusing on improving my stock individually, I focused on doing what I could to help my team win."
Smith's final decision, which is expected to come during his senior season or just after, is going to come down to just a few things.
"I want to get my degree and find a place that's going to make me a better player as well as a better person," he said. "I'm going to find a place that has good energy amongst its staff and its players."
With Smith expected to visit Creighton soon, he would be a great start to the 2016 recruiting class and help Creighton fill the void left by Groselle's departure.
